What it is

A plant that is really growing

Monstera is a Monstera deliciosa you look after on your phone. Every plant is a real simulation, raised its own way in the nursery, and there is no other like it.

It lives where you live. Its day follows your clock and its seasons follow the climate of your own town, so the light that reaches it is the light outside your window.

New leaves take their time, the way they do on a real plant. Open the app after a week and the plant has moved on without you, and it shows you what changed while you were away.

Under the hood

A plant engine, not an animation

Underneath the room is a deterministic plant engine. Water, light, soil, pot size and the climate of your town all feed the same model, and the plant you see is drawn from that model, leaf by leaf.

Because the engine is deterministic, the plant never jumps and never resets. Close the app for a month and it catches up on that month truthfully, then shows you how it spent it.

Monstera speaks 36 languages, right to left included, and finding your town works without a connection.

    Monstera can be thirsty, dusty or root-bound, and it will tell you. It will not die on you.

  • Nothing is ever lost

    The plant and its history stay with you. Every leaf it has grown is still in its biography.

  • No rush

    There is nothing to finish and no timer to beat. Look in for a minute, or leave it for a week.
