Machine puzzle

Build a machine that actually works.

Place ramps, seesaws, fans, springs, belts, dominoes, trampolines and balloons to send the ball into the goal. Run it, watch the physics play out, and tune every piece until it clicks.

What it does

Every puzzle has many solutions

Cogworks hands you a workshop grid, a ball, and a goal, then asks how you would get one to the other. Ramps, seesaws, fans, springs, belts, dominoes, trampolines, and balloons all behave the way real parts would, so the machine you build is the machine that runs.

Take the simple route or engineer a spectacular chain reaction. Solve with fewer parts, then go back and tune the same machine for speed. The physics engine is deterministic, so once a build works, it works the same way every time you press run.

That determinism is also what makes the leaderboards mean something. Because the same machine behaves identically on every run, ranking builders by parts used and time stays fair, run after run, worldwide.

Key features

Built for builders, not for luck.

Every system in Cogworks exists to make building and comparing machines feel fair.

Fair Worldwide Leaderboards

Every solve ranks worldwide, first by how few parts you used, then by your time. Open any puzzle to see the parts distribution and the top runs from builders everywhere.

A Fresh Challenge Daily

One certified contraption challenge a day, the same for every builder. Solve it to keep your streak alive.

Deterministic Physics

The same machine behaves the same way on every run. Results stay fair, and a solution you find once stays solved.

Many Handcrafted Puzzles

A growing library, from gentle first builds to devious multi-stage machines, with new ones added over time. The workshop mouse explains what every part does.

Undo, Redo, Reduced Motion

Clear controls built for calm building: undo and redo every placement, and a reduced-motion option for a quieter run.

A Calm, Premium Build

No forced ads and no interruptions while you build. Just the workshop, the parts tray, and the goal.

Under the hood

How it actually works

The engineering claim behind Cogworks is deterministic physics. A machine you build runs through the same simulation every time, on every device, with the same result. That is what lets the leaderboard rank builders by how few parts they used and how fast the ball reached the goal: nobody is being ranked against a run the physics engine cannot reproduce.

Every part, ramps, seesaws, fans, springs, belts, dominoes, trampolines, and balloons, has fixed, documented behavior. The workshop mouse teaches what each one does the first time you place it, so learning the toolkit never depends on trial and error against an unpredictable simulation.

Placement and editing are built around undo and redo at every step, so experimenting with a chain reaction costs nothing. A reduced-motion option keeps the same puzzle logic available for players who prefer a calmer run.
